When processing mold parts with rib structures (like the red triangle area in the image), the traditional method uses electrode manufacturing and EDM (Electric Discharge Machining).
However, this process usually takes more than 3 days, especially for deep or narrow rib features.
💡 Our Solution:
We eliminate EDM by using special rib-shaped cutting tools to directly machine those complex areas. This method significantly improves efficiency and reduces cost:
✅ 80% faster machining
✅ 50%+ cost reduction
✅ No need for separate lifters or slides for shallow parts (under 100mm height)
The red arrow in the left image shows where we cancel lifters and sliders, using inserts instead. By doing so, we simplify the mold structure and boost productivity.

🔧 Summary:
Traditional EDM = slow + costly
- Rib cutter machining = faster + cheaper
- Perfect for aluminum or magnesium die casting molds
- If you're in mold design or die casting production, consider switching to rib-shaped tooling to boost performance and save on both time and cost!
